The negligence that might be shown on the part of the employer can include the failure to use reasonable care to provide a seaman with a safe place to work or the existence of a dangerous condition on the vessel.  Moreover, in addition to negligence, an injured seaman can recover if it can be shown that the vessel was unseaworthy.
