Zoloft Litigation - Birth Defects - SSRI - Autism

Zoloft Litigation

There have been many claims regarding the side-effects of Zoloft such as suicide ideation.  However, the most recent Zoloft litigation involves heart defects in babies after the use of the drug by their pregnant mothers.

This Zoloft litigation focuses on heart defects in babies including atrial septal defects, ventricular septal defects, tetralogy of fallot, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, transposition of the great arteries (TGA or TOGA), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR), double outlet right ventricle (DORV), and coarctation of the aorta (CoA).

Zoloft is a type of antidepressant within the class of drugs know as Selective Sarotonin Reuptake Inhibitors "SSRI" all of which are suspected of causing serious birth defects.  In addition to these serious heart birth defects, Zoloft is believed to cause the condition craniosynostosis and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Some of the most common SSRI drugs include:

Studies have shown a two-fold increase in pulmonary defects in babies whose mothers used SSRI medications while pregnant versus those who did not.

The Zoloft litigation is rapidly growing.  It is important that parents of babies born with ANY birth defect after antidepressant use by their pregnant mother take action as soon as possible to protect their baby's rights.  They should seek the services of a board certified personal injury lawyer immediately.
